Norman Herrera is a founder and the chief executive officer of Sparq Natural Gas, LLC.
Norman is a nationally recognized thought leader and speaker on change management, alternative fuels and the ecosystem approach to natural gas market development.

Prior to co-founding Sparq, Norman spent six years building and directing Chesapeake Energy’s 17-person national Market Development team responsible for emerging technology development, infrastructure development, OEM relationships, end-user fleet relationships, policy development and advocacy. Among his many successful efforts, Norman: completed the execution of a$10 million Joint Development Agreement with 3M for the certification and commercialization of compressed natural gas 3M MatrixTMResin Type IV pressure vessels; created and implemented the product sales strategy and held full P&L responsibility for a $40 million inventory of General Electric’s Ecomagination certified compressed natural gas refueling technology (CNG in a Box) systems; developed and executed a $2.5MM partnership with Love’s Travel Stops and Corner Stores (the nation’s second largest diesel retailer) for the installation of 10 CNG refueling installations; and contributed to several authoritative publications analyzing natural gas vehicle markets across the United States.

Before joining Chesapeake, Norman served as a Special Assistant to Dallas Mayor Laura Miller and as a Senior Budget Analyst in the City of Dallas’ Office of Financial Services. He holds a double major with honors from Texas Tech University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Texas at Dallas with emphasis in local government management and city administration.
